January Hedgewitch Cottage Giveaway

Black Cat - The Witch's Familiar?

As legend and folklore:
As a link with the real world and the spiritual world, a familiar can travel on the other side - can be used for good or evil depending on the cat's owner, type of magic, message or mission the cat is send on.
A witch's cat is said to communicate with the dead, since of all the animals they are the most sensitive to the presence of the dead. This is usually a black or darker cat with intelligence and an attitude - not your normal house cat.
A familiar, in legend, is considered a supernatural being that helps and supports a witch.  The familiar is usually an animal and not always a cat - it could also be an owl or a toad/frog.
The black cat is a Halloween favorite.   Halloween and black cats have been put together for centuries.

So.....  it is time for the January Hedgewitch Cottage giveaway!  Each month of this year (2013) we will have a giveaway of items that one might find in a miniature witch's cottage!  For our first cottage giveaway the winner will be receiving a black cat sleeping in a Halloween themed bed!  This is done in 1:12 scale.

Right now you see a picture of the cat sleeping in the unfinished cottage.  So you see, he really needs a home with you!

If you are already a follower of this blog, or a follower of Creatively Haunted Miniatures on Facebook, then you don't have to do a thing!  Your name will automatically be put into the drawing each month!  And yes, you could win multiple times!  All depends on whose name is pulled out of the hat! (A witch's hat of course).  Drawing will be held on January 13.  Winner will be announced here on the blog and on Facebook.

Follow along with the progress of the Hedgewitch Cottage build here on this blog and on Facebook!

Thanks for coming by for a spell and please visit often!
GOOD LUCK!

The stereotypical familiar in Western culture is the black cat. Because black cats are strongly associated with witchcraft, there are a number of superstitions regarding them. A black cat crossing ones path is said to be a portent of doom, for example. A familiar may be nearly any anil, however. Other common forms for a familiar to take are a dog, an owl, and a toad.
